Hey everybody, how's it going? smile.gif I live in Waitakere, New Zealand and fortunately, the Hercules set is just down the road from me and I've been able to get some extra work in the movie this week!

It's the castle set and the scenes that were shot mainly involved the King and Megara telling Hercules what he must do next or slagging him for not doing his job 'right'.

Now for the interesting part...I got to see Leelee up close! biggrin.gif Honestly, she's the most beautiful person I've seen up close! She was bronzed and her hair had blonde streaks through it. Her costume was amazing...she just looks perfect! Like a little action figure or something! Oh and it was cool to see her firing a bow and arrow...I had NO idea how much behind-the-camera work went into something that appears so simple! She definitely left a good impression on everybody I talked to, so expect a few more newbies on the boards here! biggrin.gif

I was talking to some of the crew and they said that they're filming here in Auckland for four more weeks, then they're off to Queenstown for ten days...and that's it!

Well.... super thanks for that info .
I must say it will be more than interesting to see (whenever that is.. sad.gif ) her bronzed (she's very pale usually) and doing fight scene (she seems like most non agressive person in real life).. laugh.gif

How did the quality of costumes, sets, battle scenes etc. appear to you. How about he mood of the film (if you can tell anything from isolated scenes ) ?. Was it dark (hoping).....

What was your job and have you been extra in another productions since they film lot's of stuff there.... ?

By the way, how does one get part of being extra (besides that you obviously have movie star good looks smile.gif ). Do they pay anything (at least a good meal tongue.gif ) or is it enough that you get to be part of "Hollywood movie making magic" '

Also I'm quite sure you are more than welcome to stick around in the board.
It has marvelous general section where you talk about anything... and once you have been here for awhile you realize that anything is the key word... laugh.gif

Noooo... I don't get to Auckland till December! sad.gif

You'll just have to slow things down a bit. You know - distract the actors, set fire to the scenery, hide the props, or whatever it takes to delay Leelee's departure by a few months...

At the very least I hope you'll set up a Leelee Shrine at her favourite spot so that I can take a tacky photo of myself worshiping at it in due course. laugh.gif

I gotta say I've had a pretty miserable weekend having to work both days alone at the office away from my wife, kids, dog, etc. But whenever I think of this description of Leelee I just have to smile. I swear saying she looks like a little action figure is the cutest damn thing I have ever heard one human being say about another! I hope you will come back and tell us more stuff NZBOY. cool.gif

Hey everybody! Woah, thanks for replying! Ummm...I don't know how to quote on here so I'll try to remember all the questions that were asked lol.

Okay, surfer...it's very hard to comment on the overall mood of the production at this point, because I haven't seen anything besides the scenes at the castle. However, I was involved in a few battle scenes where there was heaps of blood and corpses, so we'll just have to wait and see!
The props, costumes, set etc are STUNNING! The castle set is so detailed that if you were to film in there with a handicam, anybody that watched the footage would think you were in ancient Greece. It's amazing...it's just so shocking when you look behind you and see a rural road and a Give Way sign lol. The costumes are great...especially Leelee's, it was spectacular! And I know that a lot of effort has gone into the costumes, because it took HOURS even to get the extras into costumes...every smudge, every hair curl, everything was perfect!
Oh, I don't exactly have a job, I'm a high school student! Just wrapping up my senior year and then I'm out into the big bad world! I'm looking forward to it; I'm taking next year off to save for Uni, and I'm getting myself a better agent and continuing my work with the theatre company! I got the work on Hercules through my agent, and yes, I get paid for it! lol. Extras get treated very well; there's a huge shelter to stop us from freezing in the rain, endless coffee and tea supplies, fruit, biscuits...and a huge tent where we all have breakfast and lunch! smile.gif I've been an extra in a few video clips and that's it, this is the first film I've been a part of. And thank you for being so welcoming! I'll definitely stick around biggrin.gif

One person said they're not getting here 'til December...noooooooooo! You're missing all the action!! I'll be sure to mark the spots she stood in with my foot; then you'll know the ground-licking it worth it! biggrin.gif Are you visiting N.Z or are you a resident? If you're visiting...I really hope you enjoy your stay!
And finally, to the guy who enjoyed my description of Leelee...I don't know how you're gonna deal when you see her! She's sizzzzling like you've never seen her before cool.gif Glad it brought something good to your weekend...just hope that your week got better!

Next wednesday will be my final day on set of Hercules...I can only hope that I get to see Leelee on more time *sigh* If not, I'll always remember the way she wore a purple jacket during rehearsals, the way she was so nurturing to the little blonde boy in the movie during down-time, and the time she had to run up the stairs to the throne and when the cameras cut she continued running and hugged the director...the whole crowd went "awwww!" biggrin.gif
I actually got to talk to Sean Astin at one point! He's got the HUGEST sense of humour...such a funny dude lol. He's great...and the rest of the cast is wonderful. It was an amazing experience and I'll definitely never forget it...well, I won't forget Leelee for sure biggrin.gif

Thanks for the detailed update NZBOY, glad you've decided to stick around. It sounds like Leelee really made an impression on you. Now you have to go and watch all her other movies. smile.gif

I'm based in Sydney and haven't been to NZ before, but my partner and I are going to Auckland in Dec/Jan for a cousin's wedding. It's on New Year's Eve and we're taking a few days on either side to tour the North Island. We'll have to come back some other time for the South one. If the Hercules set is still standing when we're there I might take a look at it. Do you know if they plan to dismantle it or turn it into a tourist attraction?

Good luck! BTW do you have any kind of still or vidcap or scannable snapshot that shows you in your costume? If we have some idea of who to look for and when we’ll definitely keep an eye out for you when we watch the movie.

Sean Astin was in Boston last weekend doing a book signing. I was actually planning to go but I had to work.

You should know BTW that if they follow the original story Linus (Sean) gets killed by Herc and, far more devastating, Deianeira (Leelee) ends her own life after being tricked into killing Herc. I know she’ll do a great job of the scene if they have it. There won’t be a dry eye in the audience – at least not this audience!

Thanks again for your great posts NZBOY. Don’t forget to let us know what you look like in the movie so we can watch for you.

I meaned, what was your job as an extra. Were you soldier in a battle scene ?
Nice to know they did treat you well and didn't think of you as cattle....... laugh.gif
By the way, did Leelee only use the bow. Did she do any sword fighting or was she just defending the castle with arrows or something.....
Great to know that at least according to you sets of the movie are good... now let's hope whole movie is good too smile.gif and not too 'cleaned'.

good luck with your theatre thing and finding more film work.

Also since you were on the set and actually met Sean, if you got the time you might also want to leave little message to Lord of the Rings fan site:
http://www.theonering.net/index.stat ( you can find email under 'Site Info'->'Contact Us' link where could send your story about Sean Astin and the sets).
They would be very gladd to hear this story too.

Cheers
